Carrom Tournament as a part of Rang De '23 - Annual Fest at Dr. D. Y. Patil Education Federation
Event Date – 17th April 2023
The Carrom tournament was organised On 17th April 2023 by the Sports Committee of Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Management and Entrepreneur Development (DYPIMED), Varale, Talegaon, Pune. The event was held in the college’s indoor sports complex and was open to all the students of MBA & MCA Dept. of the institute. The event was inaugurated by Adv. Anuja Patil Ma’am, Secretary, DYPEF, in the presence of Dr. Priyanka Singh, Director, DYPIMED, Dr. Harini Rajan, HOD, MBA, and Dr. Ashwini Patil, HOD, MCA. The event was coordinated by Prof. Kiran Gajul and Prof. Deepak Pore.
Objectives of Carrom Tournament:
The primary objective of the event was to promote sports and indoor games among students and to provide them with a platform to showcase their skills in carrom. The event aimed to encourage students to participate in sports activities, which not only help in keeping them physically fit but also promotes mental health and teamwork.
Key objectives of the carrom event were:
->To provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and talent in singing and music.
->To promote teamwork and cooperation among the students.
->To help students relax and unwind from their academic stress.
->To help students improve their vocabulary and language skills
Participants
The event saw the participation of 16 students from MBA & MCA courses at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Management and Entrepreneur Development.
Formats of the Game
The carrom tournament was played in a knockout format, and the winners from each round progressed to the next round until the final round. The matches were held in a friendly and competitive environment, with each participant showing their best skills. The game was played separately for boys & girls. The matches were played on the carrom boards provided by the institute, and the rules and regulations of the game were strictly followed.
Results
The event witnessed some thrilling matches, and the participants displayed excellent skills and teamwork. After a series of matches, the final for Boys (Singles) was played between Aditya Naik & Chaitanya Hatwar & the final for Girls (Singles) was played between Rutuja Adepawar & Renuka Kamble. The match was intense and went down to the wire, with all the players fighting hard to win. The following were the winner & runner-up for the match.

The Sports Committee of DYPIMED is committed to organising more such events in the future to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle among students.
